Dr. Itham Venkata Ratnam is a general surgeon with training in both open and laparoscopic procedures, dedicated to delivering safe, evidence-based surgical care for a wide range of conditions. She completed her MS General Surgery at MNR Medical College and Hospital, Sangareddy. she performed more than 500 surgeries in genaral surgery. She is skilled in open and  laparoscopic surgeries which include hernia, appendectomy, thyroid and gall bladder surgeries. gained extensive hands-on experience in managing emergency and elective surgical cases, including excisions, biopsies, incision and drainage, ICD insertions, ascitic tapping, lumbar puncture and other minor procedures, while actively participating in patient rounds, documentation and perioperative care.

She is a member of the Indian Medical Association and the Association of Surgeons of India, and has a strong academic inclination with multiple paper and poster presentations at national and state conferences, including an award-winning paper on the role of preoperative vitamin D3 and calcium supplementation in preventing postoperative hypocalcemia after total thyroidectomy. Her research work also includes studies on hypoalbuminemia as a prognostic factor in emergency laparotomy and peritoneal fluid antibacterial sensitivity in perforative peritonitis, along with presentations on rare and complex surgical cases.

Dr. Ratnam is certified in Basic and Advanced Life Support (2024) and is committed to improving patient quality of life through meticulous surgical technique, trauma and reconstructive surgery skills, attentive post-operative care and compassionate counseling, with a strong focus on patient safety and interdisciplinary teamwork.
